Workers had to be pulled back as a bush fire burned near the Gruyere gold mine in the remote northern Goldfields on 15 January 2019.

It was one of several fires in the northern Goldfields as hot temperatures raged during the summer months, including one that narrowly missed the Tjukajirla Roadhouse, a petrol station and rest stop 300km east of Laverton on the Great Central Road.

Hardhat Media‘s time lapse camera’s captured the smoke billowing over the Gruyere mine site (Photograph above).

Thankfully, the fire was brought under control with minimal damage and work on the site commenced.
